Terry Nelson, the Community Service Chair for the  Minneapolis/St.Paul Chapter of the ASG, has arranged community  service sewing days for the beginning of 2012.  Hancock  Fabrics has agreed to let us use their classroom at the Woodbury  store on January 28, 2012 for making anti-ouch pouches and on  March 31, 2012 for making laundry bags. .  The times are 10:00 am  to 4:00 pm.

Please bring only regular sewing machines for these projects.  If  anyone has fabric for laundry bags or sew-in velcro for the anti-ouch  pouches, it would be appreciated.  Terry has everything else that is  needed.

Preregistration is necessary due to limited space.

Please contact Terry at (651) 439-8933 to register or if you have  questions.

The address for the Woodbury store is 1750 Weir Drive

If you’ve been curious about pattern-drafting software and how it  works, this is a great opportunity for you to learn.  Sandee Brick, a  longtime ASG member, will demonstrate one of the pattern drafting  software products.  She will demonstrate how to set up your  measurements, develop a sloper fitted to your body size, print and  assemble the pattern pieces, and then tweak the sloper after testing  so that the pattern will fit.

Sandee will generate slopers for two models.  The models will each  prepare a and model their muslin and the adjustments will be  demonstrated.  A blouse will also be designed using the software’s  styling features, including the appropriate ease.  Sandee will print  and assemble the pattern in class.  The models will make and  model the outcome of their sloper and the final printed pattern in  fashion fabric.  Attendees can also practice with the software on two  laptops that will be available.
