ASG members meet in small groups throughout the Twin Cities and Minnesota to share ideas and  new techniques.  These Neighborhood Group meetings are informal and usually held once a  month.  The members plan their own activities for each meeting and always have time for “drag and  brag” so that their latest creations can be shared with the group. The general location and times are  listed below.  Call or email the contact person to get more details.

One group, Pattern Testers, is a special focus group.  Members choose a pattern and fabric, sew it,  and then report to the group about their experience.  Some of their pattern reviews are listed  below.

Chapter members may attend as many neighborhood group meetings as they wish.  Not a  member?  Non-members may attend two meetings before becoming a member.

                                            Pattern Testers

Debi reported on this jacket in October 2011.  The pattern was  true to its measurements and she suggests a fleece fabric.  No  alterations were necessary and embellishments are easy.  Debi  loved this pattern as it was fun and easy to sew.

Donella made this coordinated shirt and pants using Simplicity 5458  and Simplicity 7086.  She found the patterns both true to the  measurements and easy to read.  She altered the pants by adding a  different waistband fabric and shortened the length to crop pants.   Donella also used a self-fabric interfacing on the shirt.

Mary made this purse from the Purse-O-Nalaties pattern from Palm  Harbor.  The tote-all purse had 4 pockets and Mary added additional  pockets in the lining and added her own closure.  She rated the  readability of the directions and the sewing difficulty as average.   Mary also reported that the directions for the closing tab were very  confusing.  Ten hours were needed to complete this project.

Cindy reports on this jacket  pattern at the August Meeting  of Pattern Testers
