10 Questions with Rosebud |

Rosebud is one of the busiest people I met at the convention in July. She seems to always be in motion. Whether it’s teaching a class, doing a demonstration in the exhibit hall, or explaining a question at her exhibit space, she’s always moving and doing something. She also has a very nice selection of antique hats that change multiple times a day. This is a woman who seems to love everything about sewing and fabric. I took a class that Rosebud taught at the ASG convention. Her class was on the details that make a shirt great, and factory shortcuts to speed up sewing a shirt. Rosebud has been an educator in sewing for many years. She knows more about what makes a dress shirt a great dress shirt than nearly anyone, and one of her businesses is making custom tailored men's dress shirts. 1) When did you start sewing? You did answer this question, about 6 years old, and you sewed your sister's finger. Like most others, I have been sewing forever. I remember starting quite young, fascinated with how a piece of cloth could take on new form. I have even tried sewing fingers, my sister's once and mine twice! Ouch! 2) What was your favorite thing that you've sewn? Whatever my current project might be! 3) Have you ever given up on something you were sewing? Oh yes, I have had a few 'wadders' due to the wrong selection of fabric! So they quickly became something else. 4) How many sewing machines do you own? Currently too many! I do like having different machines set up for different jobs. 5) What is your biggest pet peeve with fashion sewing? Difficultly finding just the right fabric and notions. 6) What is your favorite cloth to work with? Hmm, tough question. Some fabrics are easier than others to work with, and some might have a learning curve. 7) Is there any type of clothing you particularly like to make? Quick projects for the impatient me and detailed tailored projects for when I need the challenge. 8) What are you working on now? Several things are on my plate right now and each is important. Besides sewing up several shirts, vintage hats, jackets, & skirts, I am drafting a few new patterns, writing instructions, and scheduling. No matter how much I have waiting to be done, my husband and I try to go for an evening drive in one of our 1915 Model T's while the weather is warm. 9) What is the one thing that would improve a wardrobe the most? Good fit. 10) Make up the question you want to be asked, and give the answer. Don't have a question at the moment.
